Up to this point in the tournament, the combination of some ridiculous start times and a relatively small Swiss footprint in Los Angeles meant that the Swiss were hard to find for the World Cup. But their third match started at 11:00 and their tournament hopes were riding on the result. This allowed the Swiss Consulate the chance to organize an event and those that wanted to join them headed back to Joxer Daly's in Culver City, home also to Danish and Belgian fans, who were now both out of the tournament.

The organizers arrived well before kickoff to deck out the bar with Swiss flags on practically every surface. Some of these even greeted people on the outside as they arrived at the bar, declaring Joxer Daly's Swiss territory for the afternoon. Three Cameroonians and a half dozen Brazilians were there to watch the other match, but the rest of the crowd was fully behind the Swiss.

While this Irish pub has very serviceable food, it is unfortunate not to have melting raclette being shaved off onto warm bread or fondue on every table, but it was still a good, and red, crowd. The match itself was entertaining, a back and forth affair that saw both nations take leads in the first half before going into the locker room at 2:2 for halftime.

A quick second half score for Switzerland send the crowd into ecstasy and was the last of the match, putting the Swiss into the final 16 and a date with Group H winners Portugal. At the final whistle the entire bar stood up and jumped and cheered, hugged each other, and looked ahead to what might be in the next round.
